Another disciplined week

I’m happy to have completed another strong week with completed training schedule. I’m feeling a little knackered, but I have 2 days to rest and get my energy back up.

Looking forward to making the runs 1 hour next week. I felt really strong towards the end of todays 45 minute run, so it should be pretty straight forward. The first goal is to run 10 km in one hour. I hope to get there in a month or so.

Now it is time for a power nap, then walk the dog, do my antagonist sets, and then it is relaxiacion time! Movie and a couple of carrots. It is going to be swell!

Great week!

This week has been an outstanding success!

3 sessions of 45 minutes on the treadmill and 2 sessions pumping iron.

I have also done my exercises for elbows and shoulders religiously (twice a day!). Dante is happy as well since he got 2 walks every day this week. My diet has been diciplined like never before. Eating every 3 hours, small, low-fat meals, and no unhealthy snacks (only carrots and cashews).

So now I am enjoying my well deserved reward. Cinnamon buns and a glass of chocolate milk. Gotta let the hair out sometimes, eh?

Getting into the groove

The work out schedule is coming along, and today was a rough day at work followed by a great work out with some weights and 45 minutes of running on the treadmill. Feels good to be getting on with it, and I am sure I will be in great shape by the time I can climb again.

It is going to be a great year!

Kicking off the new season

I started running again last Wednesday. Just 30 minutes but it was a nice start. Then friday came and man was that a good day!

Started the day with a visit to my physical therapist, and the treatment went well. He also told me that I could pretty much do anything in terms of training except actual climbing. So long as I pay attention to the elbows and adjust my work outs if I feel significant pain. Discomfort and light pain is apparently not a problem. Also, I pretty much got a guarrantie that I will be climbing come spring. 6 more weeks and I should be able to do some light climbing. Come May I aim to go full bore.

It made me really happy to hear that. Had a ton of energy at work and ran for a full hour on the treadmill after work. absolutely killer day. Best in a long, long time.

This week I will be doing the antagonist exercises twice a day, morning and evening, to step up the treatment a notch. And I am back on a work out schedule that includes running 3 times a week, and weight training twice a week. Can’t wait to get started again.

Things are looking up!

Slow start

To the new year (and official start of the 5 year plan), since I am still recovering from the cold, or swine flu, or whatever it was. But I’m feeling much better, and hope to be well enough for a light run on the treadmill tomorrow. We will see how it works.

Best news is that I haven’t felt anything in my elbows for a while. I will be having my second session with physical therapy tomorrow, and with the exercises I’m sure I will be climbing soon.
